Europe’s tech sovereignty: what’s in it for Matrix?
The European Commission defines tech sovereignty as Europe’s ability to act independently in the digital world by developing and controlling key technologies, data, and infrastructure, while reducing reliance on non-EU providers. On June 3, the European Commission has published a tech sovereignty package. What’s included in the package? What’s positive? What the Commission didn’t get quite right and can it be fixed? And what’s in it for Matrix and Free and Open Source Software in general? The talk will provide a gentle introduction into some of the elements of the tech sovereignty package and try to answer all these questions.
