From Student to Contributor: Getting Started with openSUSE
Many students want to contribute to open source but often do not know where to begin. In this talk, I will share my journey as a student discovering the openSUSE community and taking my first steps toward contributing.
I will walk through how I explored the openSUSE ecosystem, joined community channels, learned about the Open Build Service (OBS), and started understanding how contributors collaborate on open-source projects.
This talk will focus on practical insights, challenges I faced as a beginner, and how openSUSE provides a welcoming environment for new contributors. It is aimed at students and beginners who want to start contributing to open source and are looking for a clear and approachable starting point.
